Alberta Center for Outcome Research in Neurosurgery Kids (ACORN Kids)

Salim Ahmed Msc, CCRP is the Project Manager of Hydrocephalus Clinical Research Network (HCRN) at the University of Calgary. He is also the coordinator of Dr. Jay Riva-Cambrin’s research projects and Canadian Pediatric Neurosurgery Study Group (CPNSG).

Salim is a
SOCRA certified clinical research professional. He completed his Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary. His involvement with clinical research started as a Research Assistant in Family Medicine, University of Calgary. Later he was appointed as a Research Coordinator in GI division at the University of Calgary to manage a clinical trial for Crohn’s disease patients. 

At ACORN Kids, Salim’s main role is to implement ongoing HCRN projects in Calgary with the collaboration of Alberta Health Services and 
University of Calgary. He manages a team of neurosurgery residents, fellows, nurse practitioners and medical students. He also facilitates the research activities of the team members. He is the point person for any research where Dr. Jay Riva-Cambrin is involved.   

Apart from research administration, Salim also participates in research activities directly. He has published six 
peer-reviewed articles as leading author and seven peer-reviewed articles as supporting author. In few occasions, he presented his research at national and international conferences.
